FTP
The process in which files are transferred to the web server is called FTP (File Transport Protocol). You will have unlimited access to your web space via FTP 247 allowing you to update and maintain your website whenever you need.
FTP Software
To use FTP you need software installed on your computer called an FTP client. We recommend WS FTP for use on a PC and Fetch on a Mac. Many favoured web design packages also come with FTP software functionality included. You could even use your web browser to move files across, although for exact details consult their individual help files regarding this.
FTP Access
To connect to FTP your software will usually require the following details:

You should leave the other settings as default set by the software developers.
Transferring Your Files
When you connect to the FTP server, you will be sent to the home directory for your account. You can transfer files directly to your home directory or create sub-directories within it. Once a file is uploaded to the web server, it is available for everyone to see instantly with no delays. File Names
Please take note that files are case sensitive on the Linux platform. As such ‘index.html’ is NOT THE SAME as ‘Index.html’. To prevent mistakes we recommend you keep all page names in lowercase and any spaces should be replaced with a underscore or character ‘_’.
FTP and FrontPage Extensions
If you have FrontPage Extensions installed on your account you will cannot access files using FTP. Uninstall the Extensions to return full FTP access.
